Vision Marine Technologies Partners with Calip Group to Revolutionize Marine Battery Cooling Systems
Under this collaboration, Calip Group will supply components that enhance the thermal management of Vision Marine's high-voltage (HV) marine battery packs
New York, NY (FreePR.org) -- Vision Marine Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: VMAR), a trailblazer in electric marine propulsion, has announced the creation of a specialized production line for innovative cooling plates in collaboration with Calip Group, a leader in advanced welding technology. This partnership focuses on producing custom cooling solutions that enhance the thermal performance of Vision Marine’s high-voltage (HV) marine battery systems, with manufacturing expected to commence in 2025.
Unlike traditional high-voltage batteries, which are engineered for brief power bursts, marine applications demand consistent high-power delivery over extended periods. This sustained energy output generates considerable thermal stress, which can impair battery performance and reduce longevity.
Vision Marine has addressed these challenges by engineering advanced cooling plates specifically designed for the demanding conditions of marine environments. These plates improve heat dissipation and stabilize battery cell temperatures, ensuring reliability and extending operational life.
“High-voltage batteries in marine settings face unique thermal challenges,” said Xavier Montagne, Technical Director at Vision Marine. “To overcome these issues, we developed a specialized cooling plate that enhances both stability and thermal efficiency.”
Calip Group’s expertise in Friction Stir Welding (FSW) was integral to the design and production of the cooling plates. This cutting-edge process ensures precision manufacturing and fully sealed components, meeting the exacting requirements of marine battery systems.
“We adapted our technology to meet the specific needs of Vision Marine’s battery assembly,” said Thierry Giorgalla, General Director of Calip Group. “Our FSW process allows for unmatched accuracy, creating high-performance cooling plates capable of meeting tight tolerances.”
A Game-Changer in Marine Propulsion Technology
Vision Marine’s E-Motion™ Powerpacks represent a significant leap in marine battery innovation. Engineered for electric propulsion, these IP67-rated stainless steel battery systems offer superior durability, advanced thermal management, and modular configurations suitable for vessels ranging from 18 to 34 feet. To date, the E-Motion Powerpacks have maintained an impeccable safety record with no incidents of thermal runaway.
The integration of custom cooling plates, developed in partnership with Calip Group, further solidifies Vision Marine’s commitment to delivering reliable and high-performance solutions. This collaboration ensures that Vision Marine remains at the forefront of sustainable marine propulsion, ready to scale production and meet the growing market demand.
